A Letter to Parents

Dear Parents,

It is our honor and pleasure to welcome your son into our chapter. Beta Theta Pi is dedicated to building men of principle for a principled life. We are confident that being a member of the Zeta Omega chapter of Beta Theta Pi will enhance your son’s college experience and better prepare him for his professional career.

Zeta Omega has recently been recognized as one of Beta’s top chapters with the John Reily Knox Award for Overall Chapter Excellence and the prestigious North American Interfraternity Conference Award of Distinction. We consider membership in our fraternity as a privilege that comes with responsibility. Our members are expected to excel academically and participate in chapter and campus activities that will improve their leadership skills. Our chapter has set a minimum GPA of 2.85 for each member and last semester our chapter average was above a 3.3 GPA, highest among all fraternities at USD and well above the all undergraduate average.

Beta Theta Pi was founded in 1839 with the purpose of building men of principle who will serve their university, their community, and their country. With the launch of the Men of Principle Initiative in 1999, Beta publicly renewed its membership expectations and the commitment to core values such as mutual assistance, intellectual growth, trust, responsible conduct, and integrity. Beta Theta Pi has emerged as the leadership fraternity with our alumni endowing millions of dollars to support the fraternity’s nationally recognized values based leadership programs. The Beta Theta Pi Foundation also offers $100,000 in annual academic scholarships to our undergraduate members. We hope you consider sponsoring your son to attend one of Beta’s summer leadership experiences. For more information about Beta’s award winning leadership programs and scholarship opportunities, please visit www.betathetapi.org.

We hope you will join us for our annual Family Weekend and Beta Toast on Saturday, April 21, 2012 on the USD campus. More event details will be available on our website soon. If you have any questions about the Zeta Omega chapter, please do not hesitate to contact our advisors at advisor@sdbeta.org or our Administrative Office in Oxford, Ohio at 1-800-800-2382.

Sincerely,
